For The Win

A fireworks show Turner Field after the Atlanta Braves’ home opener on Tuesday had some scary moments when an American flag was burned after a mishap with pyrotechnics.

So what happened?

“We tried pyrotechnics from a new location and one went awry burning holes in the flag,” said Braves spokesperson Beth Marshall in an email to USA TODAY Sports. “The flag was made of flame retardant material so it didn’t catch fire, but did burn holes. We replaced the flag immediately following the game and we will no longer use pyrotechnics from that location.”
