The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a deal with right-hander Aaron Harang, reports FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

While the Braves were thinking about Scott Baker and Erik Bedard, they decided to go with the veteran Harang, who was released by the Cleveland Indians just a few hours ago. Atlanta gave Freddy Garcia his unconditional release, despite a solid spring, but would have had to pay $1.5 million if he made the roster Opening Day.

Harang will be nothing better than the No. 4 or No. 5 starter for the Braves as they attempt to tread water after losing Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy for the season with Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery.
