For the second time as an Atlanta Brave, Brandon Beachy will undergo surgery on his elbow to replace the ulnar collateral ligament.  Beachy is expected to miss the entire 2014 season.

Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery the first time in June 2012, but after 30 innings in a return last summer, Beachy found himself once again being examined by Andrews. After the exam on Monday, Andrews recommended surgery. Reluctant to go through with it again, Beachy went for a second opinion.

According to the Braves, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, team doctor of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will perform the surgery.

Beachy isn’t the only Braves pitcher with ligament problems in his elbow. Kris Medlen had a ligament replaced in his right elbow by Andrews on Tuesday.
