It is extremely disappointing to be 1-2 when your hopes for the Atlanta Falcons season were sky-high. But do not worry I am here to tell you to back away from the ledge.
Yes, there have been a lot of injuries. Yes, the Falcons have not converted well in the red zone.. Yes, the offensive line has not looked good. Yes, they have lost the close games that they have usually won in the last 5 years.
Guess what, most of the Falcons problems are fixable. Roddy White, Steven Jackson, Sean Weatherspoon, and Sam Baker are eventually going to be healthy and play for the Falcons. Better playcalling and/or better blocking by the offensive line will help score touchdowns instead of field goals in the red zone. On the offensive line I think they need more time to gel. You have five guys and five personalities that need time to get cohesive. The Falcons have spent a 1st round pick, two 2nd round picks, a 5th round pick and a 3rd round pick on the offensive line, the talent is there. Winning or losing close games depends a lot on luck. And right now they are dealing with a lot of bad luck.
The Falcons are too good of a team with good coaching and good leadership from the players to allow this to continue. It might take a week or two but by the end of the season I expect the Falcons to be in the thick of the playoff hunt.
